The Prayer of Jabez

Today, I noticed that the blogger ad spot on the top of my blog was for sites related to Christianity. One of the ads was for a site devoted to the Prayer of Jabez (I Chronicles 4:10), so I decided to check it out. After doing so, it appears to me that it goes in accordance with the whole concept of praying without ceasing. Those whose lives have been changed have witnessed the power of constant prayer using this scripture. And, that the Prayer of Jabez is a short, one verse prayer with four requests makes it easy to incorporate into one's daily prayer ritual:

And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.
I Chronicles 4:10

In this verse Jabez called on God to: 1) bless him, 2) make him prosperous, 3) keep His hand on him, and 4) keep him from evil. All good things to pray for, but mind the manner in which you pray.

Again, the scripture commands us to pray always, continually, without ceasing! (Luke 18:1, 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18) Our prayers have a two-fold purpose:
1- Giving thanks to God with joy in all circumstances, at all times and for everything in the name of Jesus (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, Ephesians 5:20).
2- Seeing Jesus in your neighbor: Whatever you do unto your neighbor, you do it to Jesus (Matthew 25:31-46).

Whatever the situation you are facing, God always answers every prayer with a BIG YES!
1- Either He calms the storm (e.g. He heals your ailment, He gives you a financial blessing)
2- Or, He calms you (e.g. He gives you what you need to survive the storm with peace, even with joy).

Thank you for your comments. Have a blessed day! Please come again!

Hello Fallen Christian,

I think I got the financial blessing today. I was telling the wife, how Jesus always provides what we need. But, usually not a whole lot more. I won my lawsuit today. After taking out lawyers fees, the amount was exactly to the penny what I had spent already. Wow, God is so faithfull. I think he holds back on me, because I am greedy. I need to be a better giver, time, talent, treasure. By the way, I have read the popular book, "Prayer of Jabez" it breaks down that pray word by word. I love you're blog page, it is so Spiritual.

Peace be with you,
Grant
